I was loyal to samsung till I bought the S9 and couldn’t throw a custom rom on it. So I reluctantly bought a pixel and put grapheneOS on it the second i bought it. Hands down the best android experience i have ever had. I have complete control over what the apps do, what sensors and directory’s they have access to and whether they have google services or not. Sanboxing is great. Buffer overflow protection, security focused updates regularly.

I wish fairphone’s hardware was up to the security standards of gOS. I really wanted one of those but im extremely happy with the pixel overall.

Remember back in the day when you could get apple users emails through a simple number incrimination in i believe the app store website?

The documentary The Hacker Wars highlighted the issue and if i remember weev went to jail for it. I probably need to rewatch it again.

Also if people are interested in that kind of documentary The Internet’s Own Boy is a heartbreakingly excellent story of what the US put Arron Schwartz through.

  • That’s exactly how I think of it, Americans are the peoples of the America’s, North, Central and South. The people in the US should not hold a monopoly on that name as it somehow infers that the rest of the Americas are somehow less American and their just not. Maybe I’m looking at it wrong as i grew up in the US and we regularly refer to ourselves as american and the rest of the America’s just don’t do that because of our cultural and linguistic differences. Maybe more a remnant of imperialism than a quark of the english language.

So I need a 2FA application? Just seems a little ridiculous as that is what I use email for. So my bw pass is well over 25 chars and I need to have another app that requires an equally strong pass. Just seems a little overkill! Especially changing passwords every year.

My problem with this is my email accounts are locked behind bitwarden. Can’t login to email without bitwarden. If both my devices get stolen at the same time I’m fucked. I’m not going to pay for premium to enable a emergency contact.

Downloaded bitwardens authenticatior app. Now firefox on my computer is asking for me to press on a security key which I assume is some sort of biometrics my computer doesn’t have.

I love 2FA I just don’t see how it is supposed to work if you need bitwarden to open your email to get your 2FA code.

Let’s say your backpacking through south america and both your devices get robbed. Your ticket home is in your email. What’s the solution here? You can’t go to a coffee shop and login to your email because its securely locked behind bitwarden. You can’t login to bitwarden because you can’t access your 2FA from your email.

    What am I missing?
