Read carefully, most of those do not need to be accepted or agreed to.
Always assume they are trying to trick you into thinking you have to agree to new legally optional features.
The good news is, even if you did accidentally agree to them, you can revoke it deep in the settings menu.
Phreaking, if you’d like to explore it more.
Umm, is it possible you might be taking this personally? Your response seems super unnecessarily aggressive.
At this point, yeah, a bit. But it is a common racism to have right now, and the first step on the path to getting rid of it is knowing you have it.
Plus, the headline is really leading in that direction too, the article itself makes it pretty clear that it is a real, reputable product. Their wording in the headline is technically correct, they specifically call it a company “you’ve likely never encountered” rather than “noone has heard of”, the company has already been at the forefront before and announced that they would be again in 2025, this is fulfilling that promise.
You are about 20 years too late for any of this to make sense. China tech is on par with other countries now. It is still lower cost for bad reasons alot of the time, but good quality tech is readily available now. You don’t have to go very far up from the absolute cheapest unit price to get to the quality either, but of course, it’s the American way to always seek out the absolute cheapest product, quality be damned. And the absolute cheapest will often come from China, despite needing to cross an ocean.
A “made in America” sticker also does not carry the meaning it used to 20 years ago either. You can get some of the shittiest cheap stuff “made in America”, it just won’t be the cheapest shitty stuff, despite being made locally to you, since the company still needs to make sure they are infinitely increasing profits forever…
The “feature” they are looking for is that it deletes itself, despite that also being illegal. They don’t want records of anything to last because when you are doing illegal stuff, records come back to bite you eventually.
They are using exactly the right app for the features they want.
The real app they are supposed to be using archives it like everything is legally supposed to be handled. For the express purpose of accountability and eventual transparency.
A witch hunt is when you don’t know for sure if anyone did anything wrong. Not when you have physical evidence of exactly who did exactly what wrong. That’s just a “case” then.
It’s described in the article, got to it from one of the other links on lemmy. It’s the older tower of terror smaller carnival rides. The ones that are like 20-40 seats around a central pole and the seats alternate between going up and down the pole at as rapid a pace as that much weight can be cheaply moved.
The video in question is about someone falling off of it.
Yeah, rush 2049 was my favourite from the SF Rush series.
Yeah, fair. Me and my brother definitely played alot of that.
Yeah, RnR, as well as SF Rush 2049 were basically my entire childhood… so much so that I have been using this user name ever since. Though, if I could somehow also add in a tokyo extreme racer reference too without it getting too long or complicated… or culturally insensitive… I loved those games too. Not enough proper Racing RPG games any more. You never start from the bottom and work your way up. Modern racing games just have you win cars in the lottery…
Are you worried people with guns might try to take your money? Why take chances? You should hire these people with guns who will for sure take your money.
My concern is, part of the design of the app is to know when the user is underage and detect when they are sending a nude. While I appreciate them putting a ‘speed bump’ there… detecting that specific event could also be an attack vector. Hopefully, we can trust the company that removed “do no evil” from their mission statement to do no evil here…
I have yet to get anything else to look or run as nice as virtual desktop, even stuff that lets you use higher bitrate just ends up bogging down the headsets decoder and not looking better while also having worse latency.
With VD I get a nice looking game at or below 30ms total latency.
And when I play from my computer while at my brother’s or friends houses, it’s 36ms or less latency, but otherwise looks the same.
And of course, when using the actual desktop mode instead of playing VR games, it’s an even bigger leap over the other options. Like <6ms latency, <12ms from other peoples houses. And two 4k 120hz screens, that actually look 4k, despite only having enough physical pixels to support 1440p at the 80 degree fov I have my monitors take up. But since every frame renders a slightly different set of pixels, you basically get a free sort of temporal anti-aliasing that effectively up-scales the resolution of the screen enough to see all the detail the real 4k screen is showing. Not every frame, but enough that your brain sees it anyway.
It was step one, not intended to be the entire end-goal. The goal is to make it obvious that profits aren’t the way healthcare should be done, as it is directly at odds with the purpose. Almost every other country in the world has removed profit from healthcare, or never added it in the first place. Even if you want to keep the rest of capitalism, it doesn’t go here.
He definitely got the conversation started. He got alot of people to say out loud that “they kind of agree with him”. And that is how change happens, when alot of people realise they were already thinking the same thing but didn’t want to be the first one to say it. He opened the flood gates.
Oh, interesting. That’s like the one feature I don’t really use it for. It’s weird how subtle differences in what you were around for can make such big differences in what stuff you use. Like literally everyone I know or knew my age is on Discord. It’s our primary social platform. I’m in like 30 servers and active in 10 of them. I’m in the discord for every game I actively play. And every game has one, I just assumed that was a common thing to do.
But seeing peoples comments about negativity and other stuff, I have never seen that on discord. So I guess it makes sense why I didn’t get pushed away from it. It’s all been incredibly positive and great gaming communities for hanging out in. I can help so many people, usually when I play a game, I get pretty into it. So I tend to know alot about it, and it’s nice to be able to help out people with questions about it. I don’t know where else people that aren’t in a games discord go to ask those questions, usually the discords are pretty huge.
Like, your phone doesn’t? Or you choose not to also have discord on your phone? People can only reach you if you are sitting at your computer?
Touch typing is not only home row typing. I do touch type, I just do it in “hunt and peck” style, just without the “hunting” part, and much faster pecking. I feel it’s a much more transferable skill.
And while I don’t practice home row, I do feel that I understand it. And I respect it for it’s purpose, I just think it’s outdated, and incongruent with modern life now. It’s more likely to hold someone back rather than benefit them now.
Sounds like a possibility for a really creative story moment. Maybe the comic book that character always carries around with them just so happened to use the same runes as their “secret language” and the author of that comic is some super nerd for that specific language.
