Is t it a community effort though and does it not pull in info from other BookWyrm instances?
At least you have done something nice for the next one, looking for those books 😁
Oh haha! My wife had a similar issue with Google and those “deals” it shows, when searching for something to buy :D
I agree. I don’t see why “Hardware” need to exist multiple places.
These things usually happens organically. Eventually one or two communities (with the same name) will be the only ones left.
And honestly, I believe if starting/moving a community, it’s better not to do it on the biggest servers.
There’s not the same amount of content as YT, but have a look at the pinned post in this community about channels to follow: !peertube@lemmy.wtf
Waiting for their Docker image.
You can check out the pinned post about PeerTube servers (platforms) in this community !peertube@lemmy.wtf
Check out the pinned post at !peertube@lemmy.wtf about channels to follow. Maybe you find something interesting.
What do you mean they should focus on international users?
Check out this post for PeerTube platforms (instances) that federate with many others. Then have a look at this page for the trending videos sorted by “hot”: https://peertube.wtf/videos/browse?sort=-hot&c=true&s=3
For content, check out this post: https://lemmy.wtf/post/15810205 and this page: https://peertube.wtf/home
New content can be difficult to discover on PeerTube, but I find new interesting channels almost every day.
They are doing awesome work!
I imagine one of the reasons for this, is because people don’t have their cars serviced yearly. Most other car manufacturers require you to have your car serviced once a year.
Tilvids.com is a good start. Fx The Linux Experiment is there.
Otherwise, I host peertube.wtf.
They have been approved :)
It’s 13 years on mine, if interested: peertube.wtf
Yea, a minimum of 13 years old is pretty common. Also something I agree with, as I don’t think kids under 13 should be on social media.
What are your criteria for a good instance? I host one myself, so genuinely curious.
What have you tried so far?
Nebula is a good option, but now you’ve created a paywall. Now only people who can afford it, can watch the content and what is to keep Nebula from upping the price of the subscription?
If ads is out of the question, then content creators need to use sponsors and patrons, if they want to make a living.
Are you talking about sponsors? Because yes, that has nothing to do with YT ads.
Dunno if I’m too late, but here goes. My question is about federation between instances.
On PeerTube an instance follows another instance and then federates every channel and videos available.
On Lemmy, the user can follow a specific community and then that community will federate with the users instance.
How about being able to, either as the instance itself or a user, to follow an entire instance and have it federate everything?
An example. I have a user on Lemmy.wtf, but I am also very interested in the communities at Feddit.dk. I never know when new communities have been created on Feddit.dk, unless I go directly to Feddit.dk and look. If I could subscribe my instance to Feddit.dk, then all future communities would be visible to me automatically.
If something like that isn’t possible, then what about being able to browse other instance’s communities from my own instance?
