It was a part of Super Mario 3D All-Stars bundle on Switch 1 although not having an analog trigger kinda sucks. New controller seems to have digital triggers again unfortunately.

That’s why they sell you a special controller. You can pay to be able to pay for the games you are paying for.

They used some kind of hybrid solution for Super Mario 3D All-Stars but I can’t imagine Switch 2 won’t be powerful enough for regular emulation. Even relatively old Android phones can run Dolphin now.

I was also baffled at using WW for the demo. Give me that port of Wii U port you cowards.

Loved Alley Cat on my moms work IBM PC in very early 90s. It didn’t age well but I load it up on archive.org sometimes and play a couple of rounds because it’s one of the first games played in my life together with Barbarian and Digger. Maybe if I had Amiga I’d know more of this guy. Bittersweet ending to that story.

You’ll find high quality captures of longplay of those old NGage games. There are only a couple dozen currently but I believe they want to archive all games this way - obviously that consumes a lot of time.

You don’t even need to go that far to see this technology in action. In the Eastern Europe we got microcomputers pretty late but that also meant our journey through the technological advancements from 1990 to 2010 started with a trickle of obsolete western stuff but then became a wild rollercoaster ride. At close to 40 I remember games being transmitted on the scout radio. You could also get games from magazines which simply printed source code.

DSi costs half of what Vita does and runs GBA games natively. What is the benefit of going with Sony for this purpose?

I’m getting an impression that lemmy.world federation has been super slow recently.

It doesn’t try to cater to everyone and there might be controversial design choices. This can mean anything from something great and ahead of time to absolute horrors of user interface design [link removed] depending on your perspective and a particular app in question. I really like what Photon does and how polished it is but it’s definitely not for me.

There’s plenty of arcade games with vertical screens although usually that’s 3:4 screen aspect ratio.

I don’t think this can come from tech media at all, the system is rotten to the core because of ads and widely accepted sloppiness. The only reason they’re looking to diversify is that new gadgets are no longer that different from last year’s gadgets and AI bubble is about to burst.

Good journalism could still come but people will have to accept it won’t come free.
