There is still some Lenovos on sale at bestbuy and it’s a little bit tempting to buy one due to FOMO if the prices might suddenly go up. I considered it earlier in the year, but moved my stuff to an old Thinkpad T520 instead and am using that right now. I think I can stay with the T520 for now.

The court press release said she was sentenced to “45 days to 23 months” and the linked news article garbled that to “23 months and 45 days” which they somehow added up to “nearly 2 years”. No idea why the sentence itself has such a wide range.

I know there are two events, 1) boycott and 2) foot traffic down. I’m not at all convinced that the two are related more than slightly. Foot traffic down = people are broke and/or more frugal because of Trump, maybe. I’d like to know how foot traffic has been for retail in general.
I’m surprised if the boycott is having any effect since I’ve hardly heard anything about it since it started. Target around here is somewhat useful though I haven’t gone there since pre-boycott. Also when I’ve gone, I’ve often taken parking lot delivery, which might not count as foot traffic.

I didn’t see anything in the article about the agent being held (locked up) in contempt of court. Judges are allowed to do that. This seems to have been a weaker meaning of “held”, where the person is potentially in legal trouble but meanwhile is still at large.

There are significant features being added too. Like satellite messaging in areas with no cell coverage can be pretty worthwhile. You’re right though, most other stuff is meh. I’d like wireless charging for my current phone but can do without it. I have a $250 phone from 2023 and don’t understand why anyone buys a flagship.
New PC hardware is mostly compatible with the old stuff or at least somewhat standardized except at the lowest end. Phone stuff is much worse about that. Idk what a Linux phone would mean anyway.

Yeah I’m not mercantile enough to go around doing stuff like that, but I understand the thought. I don’t NEED another laptop. It was tempting, but I can keep making do with what I have now.
Added: I probably should buy a new SSD if there are still some affordable ones out there. I could use it, will probably need it, and prices have been going up since even before the tariffs.
