Yeah, he’s just asking questions, what’s the big deal?
Yeah, he’s just asking questions, what’s the big deal?
I really hope your coworker is in their late 50s or 60s so they get the full dose of ‘the way things should be’
I still don’t want to think he’s a bad person, but for me, why he is a bad person is because zero “too-big-to-fail” CEOs went to jail during the immediate aftermath of the '08 crisis.
I liked Obama, but he (like every president) is a bad person. You cannot be a good person and be president (except for maybe Carter, but he’s something else), because every president is a war criminal to some extent. Obama expanded and normalized the drone bombing of brown people and tons of other awful shit.
I hope he’s sending thoughts and prayers.
Boring/repetitive work. For example, I regularly use an AI coding assistant to block our basic loop templates with variables filled in, or have it quickly finish the multiple case statements or assigning values to an object with a bunch of properties.
In little things like that, it’s great. But once you get past a medium sized function, it goes off the rails. I’ve had it make up parameters in stock library functions based on what I asked it for.
The biggest dealer I have ever been to had like 5 salespersons in store at any given time.
And probably half that in financing people.
I worked for a dealership group for a few years, and we had 4 different buildings in our local campus. Like you said, maybe 3-6 sales people in any given shift in each building, but only 1-2 financing people on shift in the same building.
Not even mentioning that the easy sales still took 30-45 minutes to get through financing. There’s no possibile way that this is legit…
Not sure if you misinterpreted me here friend, but I was agreeing with you.
This has nothing to do with being a mod and everything to do with rational thinking.
Yeah, but seeing them together is what I’m happy about.
Accepting the responsibility of facing reality has nothing to do with letting fascism take control.
I’d disagree, just because the people who refused to see the reality of the situation allowed naked fascism their time behind the wheel again. Plenty of people refuse to see reality how it is and choose to ignore it, sure that ‘things will just work out’ because that’s how it is in media.
In fact, if you were paying attention, I voted. Along with all the others that knew what would happen if we didn’t. So in that- WE tried to stop this- did you?
You’re preaching to the choir, she definitely wasn’t my first choice, but she was the only sane choice available all things considered.
My gripe is not with you, but with people who complain about the politician not being ‘exciting’ enough and using that as an excuse for why they’ve opened the door to removing the rights of myself and my loved ones. The people who feel that perfect isn’t the enemy of good, and that compromise and letting the democrats back in power was absolutely unthinkable (or, as some people told me, they deserved to lose to ‘learn a lesson’).
Based mod response. I get so sick of purity politics and using that as an excuse to justify letting fascism take control, but people gotta justify their choices somehow…
Not sure where you are, but I grew up in tornado alley. After a while, you just get used to it.
Like, I distinctly remember being in a car dealership (think massive plate glass walls) when a tornado siren went off, and most of the sales drones were basically nose on the glass looking out at the green sky. I was very amused when the manager walked out and gave the professional equivalent of ‘dudes, what the actual fuck are you doing?’
How else make line go up?
Can’t send money, but I’ve got tons of thoughts and prayers!
Well, when your goal is to destroy government programs and offices so they they get replaced by rent seeking corporations so they can suck every penny from you, it really is.
And once you get into that infinite loop, it’s basically impossible to get out of it.
The easiest way I found to get out of that loop, is to get mad at the AI so it hangs up on you.
The number of times my CTO says we’re going to do THING, only to have to be told that this isn’t how things work…
I will admit to using AI for coding reasons, but its more because I can’t remember what flag I need (and have to ask the stupid bit if the flags are real) or because it’s quicker to write a few lines and have the bot flesh out the skeleton of a function/block. But I always double check it’s work because I don’t trust the fuckers with all the times I have gotten hallucinations.
I only really use AI shit on my work computer (because hooray I have a Copilot license), and its only marginally better than doing searches myself. Its nice when it works because it lets me save time researching things, but I CONSTANTLY have to ask “are you sure that’s real?” because it just fucking makes up random command flags based on the prompt.
And its only marginally better because fucking search engines have their head so far up their ass they can see their tonsils. Godsdammit I want working search engines back.
“Better to be king of the ash pile than have to listen to Tom in accounting talk about his goddamned shitheap of a boat again on Monday.”
At that point, why give the nazi fuck any browser usage? If you don’t trust the source, don’t trust the product.
Like the other person said, use Ungoogled Chromium. I use it on a couple of my devices and it works pretty well.
They’ve been laughing since at least November. They couldn’t have bought a better dumbass to help them if they tried.
